Sinawe Mama! ("We are with you Mother!") Abigail Hatcher ahatcher@wrhi.ac.za Although violence in pregnancy effects one-third of South African women, few programs exist to address it. We are testing a program for reducing violence in antenatal care. The intervention, called Safe & Sound, gives pregnant women access to counseling and referrals from trained Nurses. Here, we discuss how qualitative, formative research helped us refine Safe & Sound - and next steps for this dynamic work.
